about

This album was recorded and compiled over two years. It really began as a series of single collabs with artists I greatly admire and wanted to work with. A theme began to emerge - "Fault" - from fault lines in the deep plates under the earth to broken relationships to the distance one can even feel within oneself, this idea kept showing up in the writing. "Fault" of course, also carries with it another connotation - one which often leads to these divisions within oneself or with others - the feeling of guilt or shame. How do we recognize these things that lurk under our skin like the plates of the earth lurk under our fragile existence on earth? How do we address them? An instinct is often to run, to distract ourselves, to numb ourselves, to try to cut off the unpleasant things.. or people. But do we find peace and wholeness in this?
A series of collabs turned into an EP's worth of material. I began to listen back to some demos and sketches from the past years. I found a few that fit the theme - I decided to leave them as is - with imperfections and fault lines. One was recorded outside at Backstep Brewing in my hometown - the courthouse bells chime at the end - the other was recorded sometime in an airport a few years ago - I can't even remember.
I hope these songs help. That is always the goal.
You are not random. You are loved.
