Recorded in the Attic home studio in 2006, this record is dedicated to the memory of St. Maria Skobtsova, the 20th Century Saint who was martyred in the Ravensbruck concentration camp in World War II for her work in sheltering and serving Jews and other persons targeted by the Nazis in Paris. St. Maria exhibited with her life the inseparable connection between love and service of one's community with the life of the follower of Christ. This album was written and recorded in the months before my family and I moved away from Indiana to Pennsylvania for four years of seminary. The themes of letting go of attachments to the world and prayers for God's mercy and guidance permeate the writing. The musical style is quiet and sparce, with plenty of room for the spaces between, the pauses, and moments of silence.
